Reviews for Widespread Panic: 10/14/2005 Starwood Amphitheatre, Antioch, TN

This was my first Panic show. It's a smoker. Don't let the negative comments about sound below deter you from grabbing this one. I'm listening to it now on my external speakers, and it sounds just as good as the '97 Porch Songs shows.

The song choices in set 1 speak for themselves.

Holden > North rocks. I think the previous reviewer's "Zen" comment describes these jams perfectly. Lots of tight segues and some inspired playing all around. The more Panic I listen to, the more I love Schools. Man, can that guy drop bombs...

Regardless of the audio, download this show. The band had reached a "Zen" like permformance state, and George McConnell"s guitar playing is nothing short of excellent! I am a Gmac fan, and proud of it. Regardless of what has occured with the changes in the band, George McConnell was the guitarist for the " common (wo)man" as Aaron Copeland would state it. George McConnell RULES!

I agree the quality isn`t as good as it should but it`s hardly ofaudience recording quality. It`s not as bad as the NYE show. They definitely need to get some consistency in the recordings and mixes though. This show is top notch though as far as the fall tour is concernced. I`m surprised no one as mentioned Dave`s Mountain Jam tease in Pigeons. First time I`ve heard him do that.

Mark, I agree with you about the audio quality, and it is really unfortunate. I attended this show, the boys were really on and the setlist was excellent. As for the download audio it sounds like a taper show. The instrument audio is good, but the vocals sound like they are coming from the venue"s PA. The vocal quality does improve as the show goes on, but the show was defiantly recorded using mics instead of being pulled off the sound board. Also, "Postcard" seems to end suddenly during George jamming before segue into " Blackout Blues".

This show was abosolutely amazing Ortiz tears it up on the drums and Schools got a nice bass solo in there...not to mention Drive-by truckers guitarist joining them for a song
