If every show was as tight as Portsmouth, with that mountain of energy and perfect crowd synergy flowing like molten lava, i`d quit my job at 39 and tour with the boys the rest of our natural lives. Charlottesville is a killer town, sweet vibe at the show but the band mates just didn`t have it together. Let me emphatically state starting nightshows while it`s still light and the venue 1/2 empty does not make for a very energetic first set. By the time it was dark, they were leaving for break! Ironic isn`t it how we all have on and off night`s in our own jobs, and it stands to reason the boys would too, just sucks having to kick down 50 beans for a ticket to mediocrity. I have been seeing Panic for 19 years but the inconsistency of shows has plagued the boys since inception. How one show can be so insanely destroyed,(Portsmouth) and the other so lamely discombobulated (C-ville) is beyond me. But please keep coming back to Virginia, others who complain this isn`t a fan friendly state obviously forgot about the HORDE tours way back when, Floodzone! We ALWAYS love the Panic no matter what hat they wear!

Good Va show, although it wasn`t as phenominal as Portsmouth, good setlist and chill little pavillion.

THis show was incredible! I came from NJ to see them, and it was worth every minute of the drive. The new lights that where used where just incredible, and the venue was great. It was like having Widespread in your backyard!

Loved the trip to Charlottesville. Cool little mountain town. Show was outstanding. Visiting Day always gets me. The setlist was good for freshmen. Standard Panic loud and fast! I need a little more depth from the boys. They still rocked it though. They seem to have a really good time in Va.lots of smilling and laughin on the stage. I got some good friends in Va. and they always show me a good time. Yeah, the cops are a hassle, but those Va. boys know how to handle em. I embrace Va. shows, especially, Portsmouth. Can`t wait to see the next Richmond show(Schools hometown). As rare as Richmond shows are the boys usually funk it up real nice. To that dude "VASUX", lighten up dork. Sweet review of the show. It`s about the quality of the show, not your inability to have a good time. Go rub one out and relieve a little tension. See everyone in Macon!

After much anticipation from the excellent Va. shows in summer tour my boys were back in town and I had a ticket. Everyone met at my house in richmond and myself, my good freind Meredith, and my best buds little brother drove up to Charlottesville early to make sure we got a good spot for the show. As we jumped out of our car in the parking garage we heard the soundcheck very clearly, a jam on Bust it Big, Tie Your Shoes, and a very good sounding Cream Puff War. We all just got down in the Parking deck listening to the sound check and after it was done we loaded up and headed into the show. As we walked into the venue we were all suprised how small the place was. Basically a big concrete slab with a small lawn at the back. Definately not the nicest spot but a cool location with downtown charlottesville all around. We headed to the front and settled down right on the rail George side. Some of the crew guys stopped working to chat and say hi which just makes you feel good that these guys take time to recognize a familiar face and acknowledge you. After holding our spot down for about 2 hours the boys walked out right on time at 7 pm. JB said they thought they`d suprise us by starting on time. Things started out very good with a Pleas > Henry Parsons Died. The seguey was solid one and the jammin into Parsons was very crisp with everyone giving each other plenty of room. EDC has HPD > RMH but I was there and I wrote down the setlist and i didn`t count it as a seguey, EDC is real quick to list a seguey and I only count a seguey when they definately jam into the song. Also I got the setlist off the stage and they boys have it marked as a stopping point. After Parsons JoJo started laying down Ride Me High and everyone started to move a little more the Ride Me High was solid but when they took it into Rock I knew it was something special. The Rock was powerful and very clean, altogether one of the better Rocks I had seen and thats saying something cause its easily my farvorite live tune. The boys took it down a notch with a smooth Party At Your Mama`s House > Space Wrangler. I really liked this combo and was really happy with where the set was going at this point. Next came three for the college crowd, Suprise Valley which has been in heavy rotation since George nailed the intro into Climb To Safety always a crowd pleaser since everyone and their brother can sing along, (alright yes we all know the words to C2S!!!!) and then One Arm Steve to close the set. After Grabbing a smoke and talking to some heads from out of town for a bit we were all ready for the second set. Coming out right on time George sang Doreatha, a beanland song which is always good to hear. And then Schools led the charge into a dark Pigeons with numerous Down on the Farm teases throughout. Next JoJo sang Visiting Day and I thought I noticed the transitions were a little reworked. This was by far the best Visiting Day I had heard sice Bonnaroo `02 and JoJo was on fire. Schools and JoJo were throwing it all over the place and George was laying back working the pedals on top of their jam....very very good stuff. Thin Air was up next which took on a new meaning to me with everything going on down south and JB seemed to really feel the lyrics. Little Lily came after with a nice jam straight into Red Hot Mama, always fun and good for getting the groove on. The Drums was fun as usual. Always my favorite part of the show, JB took a seat on george`s stack and watched Sunny and Todd do their thing egging them on the whole time. At some point here a huge fight broke out on the rail which drew some pretty dissapproving looks from the band, and made all the heads pretty mad. Really though what is there to fight about in a show? Save that BS for later. The end of the show was quck to come after drums with a nice Monstrosity,(still growing on me). A superb Travelin Light. And a ripping Action Man to finish things off. When the boys came out for the encore everyone seemed pretty beat from the Action and they played Old Joe, and then JB strapped on the Mandolin and Ain`t Life Grand was to follow. Pretty standard stuff but good none the less. All in all i give this show a high rating for the sound quality, and especially the RMH > Rock and the Visiting Day. Can`t wait to hear it on disc and see if it was as good as I thought.

No, there weren`t a ton of bust-outs, but this was a kickin` show. Opening with Pleas-->Henry Parsons-->Ride Me High--> Rock, PAYMH. Loved it. Loved the venue. Love the town. Loved the show. Pleas keep to the Panic coming to Virginia.

Peace,
Old Joe
