Reviews for The String Cheese Incident: 10/15/2005 Collins Arena , Lincroft, NJ

This show was my 3rd incident in a year and it was insane. Everyone there was not complaining about the venue. Every spot in the house was close to stage and the sound was not bad. The first set kicked off perfectly with Naive Melody > Rollover > Boo Boo`s. Kang was really going during the "head`s up" jam. The middle of the set was a bit weak, but the San Jose to close the set with Chris Berry was perfect. The second set was astounding. The Wayne Shorter "Footprints" was brilliant with the horn section. My other favorite moment was the Hotel Window, which I had never even heard into a great version of Ramble On. The house pretty much went crazy when Billy struck the first couple chords. Encore = AMAZING. The Late Mr. Cash would have been proud.

This show had some major ups and downs. First the downside. It took them a little bit to get together musically. You can hear a few mistakes during the first set. And the feedback, come on! The Rollover never was finished which was saddening. The venue was like a high school gym so I think the speaker system was limited too.
Now the upside- Some really great covers including a "rockin" Ring of Fire that is worth the download itself. The San Jose jam was great. Search was one of the highlights of the show as well. The ending of the second set was a great way to top it off.
The show is not on the tops of mine that I have seen but am glad I was there for the incident.

Great show as usual from the Cheese, Second set was awesome! Also enjoyed Chris Berry very very much. Collins area is a nice little venue, perfect for some cheese magic and the boys brought it full tilt as they always do. The cheese never disappoint. Thanks SCI

The last time I saw Cheese was in October of 2000 at Philadelphia`s Electric Factory. Since then I have been hooked. I wanted to take my girlfriend to see for herself how amazing String Cheese is. We had front row center spot against the gate, and they blew our socks off. More amazing than I remember, thank you for a great night Cheese! ~Matt and Becky~

the Collins Arena is a nice Round room
---a great place for a cheese show....
twas a very High energy second set.
A good friend of mine that i just met
propped a door open to let air in.
It led to a stairwell on the side opposite the main entrance.
--- midway through the second set
a stream of wide eyed 12-14 year old local boys came in
and walked bravely into the sea of dancers,
past the bearded guy in the Fat lady dress outfit,
and the guy dressed as a tomatoe hornworm
and the Bunny Rabbit guy, onward past the twirling wookies
and all the happy happy people into the middle of a very high energy show.

I wonder what changes that experience might engender in them.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

The 2nd set started out with 4 songs including Chris Berry and Pangea
---that really smoked (~):->
the Ramble on was really nice ,
---and they really kicked it up a notch for the ring of fire encore.

special thanks to Turtle and the Michigan crew
---we love y`all
