Will you just listen to all that space inside of champions…… love it, must be a new drummer lol;) I loved Sammy, the rawness, the musicality of his drumming, the looseness in which he held songs ao they were always a little different but still the thing it needed ala Jon fishman and then Allen came in like an alien metronome, so steady you could set your watch to it, I loved the Allen era so much, and he made me dance my shirt off more times than I can count (hundreds!)and when I hear the songs in my head it is the Allen versions that play. It’s been rough for me to listen to this new transition with Marlon, the suddenness of Allen’s departure, the unfortunate hard feelings that permeated, the bitchiness of online fans lol….. but hearing the band develop new ears and new grooves is interesting and fun and this show is a pretty good example of the new space and bigger ears onstage atm…….
