Reviews for Grateful Dead: 7/12/1990 RFK Stadium, Washington, DC

Hot and humid as F***! You could feel the storm brewing all day long. Luckily up and undercover although my buddy wanted to head down to the field to get soaked. Too long of a ride home to Albany for me to drive wet. Probably my favorite show in person. LTGTR->Stranger let you know they were feeling it. Phil seemed in such a great mood and when the Box came to open set two, Mother Nature gave us some Lazy Lightening as a backdrop and it fueled the band into syncing with weather and gave us the freaky Victim and when the notes struck for my first Dark Star, it went to a new level (at least for me). I remember calling the Grateful Dead Hotline the next day as we used to do to get set lists and comments from the shows. Remember the dude saying, show of the tour!

Soaked to the BONE. Torrential HOT rain in the swamp of D.C. it was like standing in a shower for four hours. Rain started as soon as they took the stage, and ended when the show was over. The Dark Star was a gift from the band that night.

Listen to the roar of 80,000 people when they stroll into Dark Star. And this isn’t even an AUD. 36 years later and I still get chills.

The time and place Foolish Heart became a SONG to me. Standing there, soaking wet, balls of lightning aloft, flowing into my first Dark Star. Woo, indeed.
