Exciting set lists when they started touring again. Jerry's tone with that Travis Bean is shrill, melodic, high toned and super unique. But my goodness, that playin' is a hot mess!! Aborted Dancing at the end is a serious bummer due to that broken bass drum stop.

Paramount Theatre, Portland, OR — 6/4/76 Night two. The band came back to prove night one wasn't a fluke. Set One is the story. "Sugaree" stretches out and breathes, "Mission in the Rain" is a rare gift, and then they close the half with "Help > Slip > Franklin's." First set. That's a statement. Set Two keeps the renegade flag flying. "Playing in the Band" opens deep and wide, then "Cosmic Charlie" surfaces — don't blink. "Let It Grow" hits hard before the set softens into "Stella Blue" and gets back on its feet with a funky "Dancing in the Street." "Johnny B. Goode" sends Portland home right. Two nights. Two statements. Peak '76 and they're just warming up.

I'm sure we all could definitely offer up a show with this type of energy, but wow. The diversity of the setlist is unimaginable if you were like me and your entire "I was there" catalog came in 92 and beyond. This is what my generation always chased, and sometimes caught, but overtly loved. It's what our older brothers and sisters turned us on with. And we never forgave them for it. This is pure. This is human kindness and love. This is proof that life can be better, and you found it. Thank you for this and don't forget, "it all rolls into one" Peace Mw
