Reviews for Grateful Dead: 2/22/1969 Dream Bowl, Vallejo, CA

This show, released on 30 TRIPS AROUND THE SUN in wildly upgraded sound, is arguably superior *as a complete show* to any of the four performed at the Fillmore West a week later. That run of shows was cherry-picked for LIVE/DEAD, but this *single* show covers all the bases with early '69 Dead perfectly. And it's a very specific, self-consciously focused sound. They are intentionally limiting themselves mostly to the heaviest psychedelic jams and suites. But this is a perfect "alternate" LIVE/DEAD.

20+ min dark star and love light with a solid death has no mercy. Enjoyable show for sure

This tape got was my first foray beyond ‘Live Dead’ into this special era. Thanks for having it available here.
