Reviews for Grateful Dead: 11/8/1969 Fillmore Auditorium, San Francisco, CA

One of the single most legendary shows the Grateful Dead ever played. This one of those show upon which the band's live myth was constructed, and the funniest thing of all is that the first set is nearly a complete shambles - Jerry was reputed to dosed out of his mind on the night (playing paranoid) and it shows up in a rather rough opening salvo. (Pig supplies the best moments.) Then, set 2. 90 unbroken minutes of music. Beyond description. NOTE: the DP16 release includes a great Lovelight from 11/7.

I've always been crazy about this show. Just a crazy psychedelic ride, with highlights being The multi-part Dark Star, a strong Other One, and the unknown rap right before The Main Ten. Cumberland isn't the greatest, but we all know it's upward from here. Added bonus, a strong Pigpen show.
