Reviews for Grateful Dead: 3/23/1974 Cow Palace, Daly City, CA

One of the weakest Dick's Picks ever, this 2CD digest of 3/23/74 was released for one reason only: It marks the debut of the Wall of Sound. All I can say is that for this show, you had to be there. The experience doesn't come through in an edited tape of indifferently performed songs. (The PITB sandwich that forms the core of this release is...shockingly indifferently played.) It's the Dead, so it's always entertaining. But leave this until last of the '74 material.

My first show, first concert, at 15. My older brother got married in the morning and drove the old Dodge Dart to the show. I was just a puppy. I remember him warning me that all concerts won’t be like this one. Understatement of the century.
