Reviews for Grateful Dead: 3/9/1981 Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

Ah baby '81 Dead. Brent really kicks in. Everyone is on fire. That energy man. That pulse. Early 80s GD man, different beast baby. This show lives a life of its own. Feels like a Stranger opens up 3/9/81 and it moves. Which means you move too. That f-f-funky vibe shakes man. Althea slides pretty, with a vetiver breeze and a cold, still spirit. It stays the course and is probably one of the best Althea cuts I've ever caught. Brent's vocals on ROR -man he delivers. Deep Elem Blues nods to some tight, cowboy ancestry. S&D keeps the swing until we land soft with Ship of Fools. A Jerry favourite, and man you can feel it when he plays it. Exceptional baby. Don't sleep on this. X
