This show is outstanding, roaring, a passionate roller coaster of psychedelic madness. The recording has its hits and misses. The Morning Dew has been repaired, by turning Jerry’s guitar low in the mix, it makes the malfunction less noticeable and it’s easy to appreciate even the portions where his guitar cut out at the peak. On the other hand, the completely cathartic conclusion of the Playin’ jam lacks its sonic profundity here and feels somewhat sterilized. But one remedy is to jack up the power and play it loud! This is top of the shelf Grateful Dead! I don’t recall how this sounds here, but the peak of Greatest Story likewise slams! Monster show.
