I attended the Saturday (Night 2) performance. Along with Ice Nine Kills and Limp Bizkit, the show was so amazing I still am raving about it, wearing my concert shirt almost daily. I wasn’t expecting Unforgiven, so when they began playing it I jumped for joy! I started listening to Metallica around the time that the black album was released, so Unforgiven was my earliest favourite song of theirs. The pyro for One was as I expected it would be, so I was thrilled by that, but the most unexpected pyro was for Moth Into Flame, where they had the flames firing off in sequence to create a running wall of flame that circled around the stage and given extra flamey goodness with support from video flames on the towers. The Rob-and-Kirk doodle was really something, creating a medley of Rush music, including YYZ. I never thought I’d hear a Metallica version of Rush and it was amazing! Rob gave tribute to Neil Peart at the end of it, so they really did Rush a solid. Oh and I brought my kids and let them each pick out their own Metallica tour shirts. It will be something they will never forget.
