Reviews for Widespread Panic: 10/11/2009 Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek, Raleigh, NC

Funny to read some of the reviews from my perspective. As more of an old schooler, this show was excellent featuring songs that I used to chase from show to show. In fact, I would argue the band intended for this setlist to be special, probably related to JB's comments at the end. Surprised to get ALG after Tallboy instead of Tractor, but it still worked. The ABB set was incredible..

Good God Almighty!! Panic was their usual rollicking self, playing a strong set to open for the Allmans but the evening was defined by the Allman Brothers and that ripping slide talent named Butch Van Trucks! People, I hope you really appreciate what you were hearing because even though my best bud Billy hates it when I make comparisons, you just gotta know this is on the Stevie Ray level. And those vocals of Warren's are the best along with the whole famn damily to be honest. JB coming out to do "Can't Find My Way Home" would have stopped the show but then all three lead guitars on "Elizabeth Reid" pushed the whole concert into, what was for me, epic proportions. Here's hoping one day to find their set somewhere...and pay for it, broke as I am.

I thought this show rocked! although it seemed like people weren't gettin into it for some reason. Got my first Lilly and City of Dreams. And that ribs>stop breakin blues> ribs was nasty. I definitely cannot complain at all. I even brought some of my friends who were older panic heads who don't like herring and have been boycotting panic since the first couple herring shows they saw... and during this show they couldn't believe how great he was, they were totally blown away. So hopefully that says somethin

This was my first time seeing WSP (my 15th Allman Brothers Band show) and I was impressed, but not blown away. I am not sure if it was the setlist or the shorter time allowed for the opening band slot, but I got the feeling that the band never really "took off". I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars, which is very good.
Allman Brothers set was a 4 out of 5 (with the highlight being Elizabeth Reed with Jimmy Herring tearing up the second solo something fierce.)

Not sure what Ben F is talkin' about. Sounded great from Section 3 Row M seat 9..... and everywhere else I ended up. Allmans set was tight too. Good feel at Walnut creek.
