Any improv group's album is always just a sample of what you're going to here live... honestly I don't know why anyone would "expect" anything from UM, they are so diverse and that's the great thing about them, always adapting, exploring, and innovating...

To echo what everyone else is saying, I'd have to agree, this is not what I expected from Umphrey's but I like it quite much. Looking forward to the new album/vast amounts of bonus material.

Very different sound from Umphrey's. Wasn't a big fan at first but it got to me (like they always manage to do) and is now one of my favorite UM tunes. Can't wait till the album releases!

interesting. not what i expected. sometimes i (foolishly) think i "know" these guys well...and this was definitely not like anything of theirs i can relate it to. i agree with the previous post that it has a Beatles-ish sound to it. i can see where it has room to open up and become exploratory at the end (although i can honestly say there is not a song of theirs that is not fair game to be cracked wide open on any given night). i doubt i'll listen to this album over and over simply because i can't get enough of the spontaneity and unpredictability of their live stuff...but i'm sure i'll pick up a copy just to give it a listen and support the guys who have given me so much. over all, i liked it.

I sure hope this is a single edit! Excellent, new sound from the guys with a sophisticated Beatles influence. They can do anything.
