Reviews for Umphrey's McGee: 10/17/2008 Smith Opera House, Geneva, NY

Went to this one, and other than the dickface security at the venue, it was a great show. A venue that makes you drink in a small dungeon basement while you miss the opener to both sets just speaks on their laziness and unwillingness to adapt. Geneva is beautiful, but probably the most smug, snooty town in the state of New York. They think their shit don't stink. Now, that being said...Probably the best light show I've ever seen in a theater. Sound was equally amazing. Music wise, tribute was great, water has a nice melodic countryish jam, and bottom half is good. Robot World and Phil's are ones for the ages, superb improv. B+ overall

What a GREAT show! Great energy, amazing lighting, excellent venue and of course the music. Probably the best UM show I've been to.

i was right in the front at this show. the show started with just a flash of some of the most amazing lights ive ever seen. the stage was a blue haze before the band came on and when they started playing the whole place was just filled with energy. it was awesome of the band to play partyin peeps. a guy made a ton of posters with pictures of the peeps marshmallow birds and we all held them up at the start of the second set, and they jammed phils farm right into partyin peeps and we were all high fiving when they started playing it. this is definitely one of the best concerts ive ever been to. the jamming in phils farm is just so innovative and interesting. it just screams new age. definitely buy this show!
