Reviews for Umphrey's McGee: 7/6/2008 Weesner Amphitheater, Apple Valley, MN

It`s fabulous to see this band still rocking with so much passion, energy, and creativity. At one point in the second set, Joel mentions that they come to the zoo because they "love playing here". Tell you what Joel, you and your band left us all rocked, sweaty, and leaving the zoo hooting and howling.

There really isn`t a weak point in this show. I usually don`t care much for "Atmosfarag", but it`s a concise one and it sets the tone nicely here. This show is just frocked with peak moments, and everything seems perfectly placed. The "Spinal Shaft" is rather epic with wonderful instrumental interplay, and the Walletsworth is nicely placed in the first set. The second set is pure pandemonium with the "Ringo" suite, as someone else mentioned previously. The "Search 4" climax is hair raising and glorious. By the time "Andy`s Last Beer" comes around, the band had the crowd in full rapture (although I don`t know why we can`t clap correctly to the breakdown; How many times have we all heard it now?). The "Hajimemashite > Sociable" encore is incredible with Haji bringing some major, major energy and emotion.

All in all, this is typical Umph, messing with your head, and rocking your body.

UMPHREY'S ROCKS THE MINNESOTA ZOO AGAIN!!!

The band and audience are having a great time at this show. It is awesome from the Atmosfarag opener through the Ringo tripledecker to the Sociable Jimmy closer.

Get it, you won't be disappointed!
