My Morning Jacket was formed in Louisville, Kentucky in 1998 by singer-songwriter Jim James. James created the group as an outlet for acoustic songs he had developed on his own that his band at the time, Month of Sundays, could not use.[2] The group's first lineup included his cousin, Johnny Quaid (guitar), Tom Blankenship (bass), and J. Glenn on drums, all formerly of Shelbyville-based emo-punk band Winter Death Club. The band's name stems from James, who once found a discarded coat with the emblazoned letters MMJ. "You're a very brave and very beautiful gang and I salute you!" - Yim

My first MMJ show and it was amazing! Being from Kentucky, I've seen some pretty epic Jacket shows but this one will always be one my favorites. The severe weather on the horizon and the high winds combined with the energy of the band set the stage for one the best Bonnaroo performaces I've ever seen....Radiohead in '06, the Umphrey's 4 hour long face melt session in '04, Phish '09, UM/Bisco late night '06, Oysterhead, The Beastie Boys... and this show still stands out...

Shame, Shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and Scotty and Toby, Jimmy and Carl, and all the pieces that make up this ongoing music that keeps reforming and coming up with crazy great snuff.
