Reviews for Widespread Panic: 6/21/2008 Orpheum Theatre, Los Angeles, CA

Just to clarify the sound of this release is 100x better than the venue's. Do buy!

My first at the Orpheum in LA....was it just me or were the keys louder than anything else? We could barely hear Sonny from the left mezz. (which was maybe only 15 rows back and over the stage) I thought that the energy from the crowd and band was great but struggled with the sound.

OK. The first and only Tipitina was very cool. I knew right then that it was going to be JoJo's night. The keys seemed to be everywhere. Even in songs that I don't remember ever really hearing them before.

The first set was pretty incredible. I really dig Tickle. In my opinion, one of the better songs off the new album. Can't Get High, a rockin' Good People, a funked up Use Me and a blistering Junior closer. The second set had to be great to follow that! Which of course didn't disappoint opening with an absolutely shredding Chainsaw>Machine and into Barstools. Then a trippy new one, Her Dance Needs No Body. I think it's agreat song for cooling down, but my wife absolutely loves it! Last night, JB went North for the closer. Tonight he was Goin' Out West. Amazing! To top it all off, they sent us back into the streets of L.A. sweating balls after a three song encore ending with a maniacal Action Man.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the Sunday show, but I seriously cannot wait until they invade La La land again! Peace!
