Reviews for Umphrey's McGee: 2/12/2008 Downtown, San Diego, CA

I bought this sbd as the setlist intrigued me to do so. This is the UM show you want to buy for a sunday afternoon drive. There are no crazy throwdowns, however, it is well played...and thats what I look for. Highlights include a sick Higgins, a patient 40`s Theme, a surreal Morning Song and psychedelic Ringo. Throw in a great Steely Dan cover and a couple of the better new songs, and you have a download worth $10.

Wow, I downloaded this show from the archive and was so blown away by Morning Song that I`m downloading it from UM to get the soundboard recording...simply amazing. They need to make a studio cut of this song. There are also some sweet songs in the rest of the show... Water, Higgins, Example 1, Search 4... Wish I could have been there to witness the show in person, but I live on the East coast, so that made it impossible :( Oh well. Hey guys, please come back and play more shows in Philly.

Been to at least 30 Umphreys shows over the past 8 years and have to say there has not been one I was disapointed with, until now. There was absolutely no spark to this show. This is the 2nd time in a row in San Diego where Keneally has been brought out. Is it just me, or does the jam just completely die whenever this guy walks on stage? It would be one thing if he came out for a song, but for the second show in a row, he was out for nearly half the performance. The reunion w/ Mirro was great but overall there is no reason to listen to this show.
