Reviews for Gov't Mule: 12/31/2015 The Beacon Theatre, New York, NY

This was the new years show to be at for sure. All covers of three of the greatest bands that played a festival together in '73 that was bigger than Woodstock Nice selection for the Dead set, straight from that July 1973 "Watkins Glen" era. I mean, who does "here comes sunshine"? Awesome. Nothing beats the Jam > Wharf Rat from the 7/27/73 original though. Warren and the boys rendition started this set and doesn't quite click into the 20 minute original zone which included an early "fire on the mountain" type jam out of space. Oh well, it'd be cool to hear them attempt this again The Band set was nice but not too jammy, more like a greatest hits jam. Just ok but not expected to get too loose from the originals I suppose. Better not make them something they weren't Allman Brothers set didn't disappoint. Makes sense this closed it, killer Mountain Jam as encore with Kimock helping out. A compete night of awesome covers, and to cover a famous festival run? They set a high bar for even themselves and pulled it off with class. Thank you gentlemen
