Reviews for The String Cheese Incident: 12/31/2006 Concourse Exhibition Center, San Francisco, CA

WOW!! is all I have to say. I personally thought that the new years eve shows were simply mind blowing. I love cheese yet cannot pretend to know their music like some, however I can honestly say that this new years eve was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. I still can not get over how amazing and detailed the venue was and how exhilerating the music that accompanied it was. In my opinion you guys played an amazing show! A lot of people must have put their blood sweat and tears into that show, and they accomplished an unbelievable task of making the venue environment truly seam like a `night of dreams`. Thank you to them! STI, you guys kicked ass and I haven`t enjoyed myself like that in I can`t remember how long. You guys all have a true gift in joining different kinds of people to groove together as one positive force. Forget all the negative comments from people who crtitique and think they have a right to put down a performance, and remember that there are still thousands of fans like me who appreciate and hang on every single note you guys play. wherever the music brings you I wish you good luck and positive vibes a plenty!! Thanks again for making my birthday and new years eve an incident i will never ever forget!!!

First, let me say that I`m a long time fan and love SCI. They have been my favorite band for the last 6-7 years. This show, however, was bad. The band didn`t play together, the setlist was average, the the crowd was filled with people more concerned with drugs than music. The previous night was AWESOME and a must have for all SCI fans. I really hate to post a negative review but it`s is the plain & simple truth. I`ll look forward to having fun with you guys at future Incidents.

All I have to say is that the negativity written by some of you guys is just the opposite of what sci is all about. There are extremely high expectations put on a band (esp. for new years) that usually delivers top notch, jaw-dropping performances. I feel like this show might not have been their best ever but was definitely not awful as some of you have said. If you`re a true fan of this band, then you will understand that they have taken you on many joyous adventures throughout the years, and for that you should be happy. And don`t bother coming to of the few future incidents if you`re gonna be such downers. See ya later

As I mentioned in a previous post, SCI has changed. I understand that everything changes but what used to be magical has slipped into utter disappiontment.
From my first incident back in `99 to present I don`t recognize this group any longer. I applaud Bill Nershi for leaving. Just one question remains, SCI where are you going?

Although it pains me to say so, the playing on this show IS sloppy and out-of-synch, even more so in contrast to the night before. Probably not worth the download.

i wasn`t there and haven`t listened to it, but i think its funny how some people think it was amazing and others think it was one of the worst shows they`ve ever played. i can`t imagine anyone not having a good time though. people are such complainers sometimes

plain and simple...they played bad and the crowd & venue just made it worse. With very few exceptions the band seemed out of synch for the whole show. I`ve been seeing SCI live for 5 years and this was by far the worst show I`ve witnessed. I`m very disappointed as this will probably be my last show unless they plan a PNW tour sometime in the future. Buy the show from the previous night...it was truly classic SCI.

So... first with my one and only complaint, and it really isn`t a complaint so much as it is an observation: the last couple shows with Peak Experience, Peak hasn`t appeared to put as much into them as I have seen in the past. Venue was cool inside, but not as much stuff to groove off of this year as there was last year; this may be due to some of the circus type acts being missing this year.

As far as the scene goes, I met some really cool people this year, I had a total of zero altercations with people and had no issues with the crowds whatsoever. The people are a lot of the fun of going to SCI shows for me, and these two nights were no different. I didn`t encounter any disrespect from anyone that I can remember, and I`ve thought about it a lot. I suppose perhaps that I receive back what I project forth. Quite the contrary, people seemed to be having fun with their experience and everyone that I stopped to talk to were cool as hell, in the crowd at the main stage, walking through the venue, or outside mingling after the show.

The music, of course, was great. Both nights Billy seemed to be having so much fun, and I noticed a lot of interaction between him and Mike Kang. Kieth was on top of his game both nights as well, and as a whole I have to say that the band looked to me to be having a blast. I noticed a lot more energy and effort being spent on the jams, and from where I was standing, they were knocking out the crowd.

My favorite highlight of this night was the Elton John cover. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty when my favorite song of a SCI show is a cover, but not this time, they really pulled it off well. Watching Jason get up and take over Travis` drums so that Travis could sing a song was awesome, and it was even better to see how into the moment Travis was while he was singing it. There were some great teases throughout the night as well, and I liked what they did with rollover.

Normally at past multiple-day Incidents I`ve noticed that the first night of the run is a little better than the others. Not so with these two incredible nights, they both have something special to offer and the musicianship didn`t decline, or increase really, from night to night. In my opinion, these two nights are almost required for anyone who enjoys SCI music.
