Reviews for Widespread Panic: 9/24/2006 Tower Theatre, Upper Darby, PA

Herring...my God. The second set is epic. The arpeggio/pyramid picking patterns he does on the Philly Jam after "Sharon" is one of the more technical things you could possibly do on the instrument. The whole band is on it. "Maggot Brain" is a perfect study on rising dynamics and control (the whole band, in fact), with Herring pulling out licks ala Malmsteen (listening to "Rising Force" before the show, Jimmy?).

Gotta download this one! The boys are startin to kill it with Jimmy. The Holden>Sharon>Jam and Maggot Brain>You Got Yours>Parsons>Love tractor is ridiculous. Mind Bending. Wasn`t at this show, but I wish I was. great 1st set as well. Chainsaw opener and a Spoonful. Can`t wait to see these guys again.

Road tripped up from memphis to Philly for my first show with JH. Was/is an enormous Mikey fan, grew to love George and after downloading the first MSG show with JH thought the tempo was really slow. Seeing it live is another story. Herring was sick and the energy was something I had not seen in a while, the band was all smiles and there were times when everyone, JoJo and Sunny included, were all staring at Jimmy and smiling while he was going off. You can really see a difference in the chemistry / vibe now. Amazed at how JH has picked up on the original style of the songs and then added his own flavor in such a short period of time. Once again, WSP has taken a tumultuous situtation and turned it into gold. A testament to what great musicians they are from top to bottom. Thank you WSP for continuing to lay down the beautiful vibes over all these years and times. I hope you can feel the love from the crowd because is it large. Look forward to the future.

My sentiments exactly! Get rid of Keene, the slid steel guitar has become old and one dimensonal. Could it be that the wrong guitarist left the band during the summer tour?!?!
