Reviews for Widespread Panic: 10/30/2006 MGM Grand Garden, Las Vegas, NV

This without question an incredible show, but to say that it is the best ever I would say is pretty far fetched. Either you were not a fan when Houser was alive or us old guys are just that starved for a show like this. I would say that this is probably the best show since Houser passed away.

I have been going to WP shows since 1990 and I just don`t believe that this is there best show ever. Just thinking back over the years here are some shows that were magical. Take a look at the `99 New Years run at the Fox, 5/4-6/99 at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, `98 Mud Island, `98 ween, `97 Red Rocks,`97 Ween, `97 Warfield Theater, `96 Sit `n Ski tour, 6/29/96, any show with David Blackmon etc., etc., etc. I could on and on and on.

For some of you this may be the best show you have ever been to cause you haven`t been to that many show or not many when Houser was alive or it could be the best show you have seen since Houser, but this is not the best Widespread show ever. I could be up there, but I just don`t think you can come out and say that this is the best they have ever played.

Don`t get me wrong I love the way they are playing with Herring. I have been to seven of the shows since Herring joined, I can only go to so many considering I have a 2 and a 4 yr old daughter, but I have downloaded every show of this tour. They are red hot right now and its nice to see the boys having fun again. I think Herring is pushing them and making them play better. The shows that I saw with George for instance, Schools just looked bored and not really into things and now he is back to his old self. Enjoy this chapter while you can cause there will be plenty more incredible shows to come.

I truly wish I could have been there. I have been to about 71 shows(seems like so many more) and I have never seen such a set list. People are Strange has been one of my favorite songs since I watched The Lost Boys when I was a kid. Jimmy Herring has brought it back. I really can see what Mikey did all those years. All respect to George, but we needed Herring. Herring if you`re reading this(probably not), we like you, stick with us to the end(10-15years more at least).

A Machien!!!

I felt so privileged to have had the chance to witness this show, not along be 5th row center stage. Schools & JB look to be having the time of their lives on stage and it showed big time in this show. I would trade every show seen with GMAC just to see this 2nd set & encore again.

This venue was way nicer and more intimate than last year, great music, vibe, peeps all weekend. Coolest costumes and set design with the dancing girls up top was a great addition. JB as chicken and antics w/ Dave and two heads in begining rivals Ignatius wielding the hot dog cart. I`ve read all the other reviews and must say now that i`ve definitely seen more all around shows than dude who`s fifty and I`ve stopped counting panic shows after 200, been to most new years and halloween shows since 95 (everyone from 95 -2000). This was hands down the best panic show ever and song choice/ set list has a lot to do with it, but let`s be real, even their standards like tractor, pilgrims, diner, and stop/go were the best I`ve seen them do. Stop/go was sick nice jamming, drawn out, with the three little birds, every little things gonna be allright rap in the middle. JB u are so unbelievable when you channel rock n roll`s greatest like you did on the 30th. Any show that starts with contentment u just know the boys are gonna open that door to the basement. People r strange, U should B glad, John`s jam(beautiful), best sharon ever played with or without the burlesque girls to back `em, and wickedest chainsaw ever(i`ve seen j. joseph numerous times solo, including park city w/ panic 96 -97 and many times since, nothing compares to JB getting sick with it on this night it was a long ass first set)lovin` Keane reliving REM, slippin, Morning Dew, black magic, return of the radar, and she`s so heavy so f`n unbelievably sick!!! so glad I made it there. ( I was sittin in las vegas jail 2 weeks prior not knowing if i was gonna make it, but all worked out as it was supposed to.) AIRPLANE - mikey was definitely there as someone else posted. Also that`s how "I want you" ends, u tard. The reason they chose it was so everyone who wondered what it would be like to recreate difficult epic beatles jam and how to work it out live when it just ends in the middle of a jam. The guitars all turn around to look at Todd and then all nail the last note throw up their arms take off their guitars and walk off stage like the heroes they are. Hands down best show ever. I`ve seen the Dead in vegas, the stones(L.A), and eric Clapton at the royal albert hall in england, just to name a few. Plus all of panic europe 99. Hands down best show ever!!! The boys are back, Jimmy`s the man I can only hope he stays and writes a new chapter with JB. Most Keane I`ve ever seen in one weekend, so great he`s out with the boys easing the transition while shredding and ripping off heads. Watch out when the panic comes to a town near you soon!! Don`t miss it!!

fan since 94 - this was just about the best panic show I`ve seen - or in a long, long time at least. the venue was choice - small, not a bad seat in the house - much smaller then the orleans accross the way - the energy was high - the tunes backed it all night - been a Jimi guy for a long time too - so when I heard he joined I knew this would be someting special - he is on another level from what panic has ever had on guitar and he is a southern rocker - the next few tours are gonna be lights out - the vegoose vibe is a very good one - the cheese show the night before in "the Jungle" was epic and followed by this absolute gem of a panic show - what a back to back experience from two hot bands. I`m still soar from dancin` my a$$ off all weekend.

I have religiously attended Panic shows since 1992. This `event` blew me away! It has been a long time since I felt euphorically high (and was sober chemically) at set break. I saw the professional camera rig behind the soundboard. Here`s to hoping that there`s a DVD release in the near future. Thank you Panic!!!

Sounds AMAZING...but seriously, you need to bring back the NOLAWEEN tradition!! NOLA misses you guys, and the magic that you bring!

Best show I have been to in 82 tries. Goodness gracious. As a big R.E.M. fan, the The Can`t Get There From Here was a nice touch. I have never run so fast as I did from the bathroom when I heard Airplane starting up(sorry to the people with beers that I may have knocked over). I still can`t get the People Are Strange out of my head. Oh by the way, there was a sick Sharon, Proving Ground, Pilgrims and Stop-Go. I guess I forgot to mention the Morning Dew. WHAT?!?!?!?! By the encore, I couldn`t care less what they played. But since they did continued on, I Want You was simply crazy talk. THANKS BOYS!
