It was a great show. I mean, all the Goose shows are! Specifically for last night, audience was a little sweaty and unfamiliar with the band. First set opened in the bright and hot sun, and was well-played. The crowd delighted in The Way it Is. Pancakes was a resounding banger to close the set; the band had fully settled in and everyone had cooled off a bit as the sun dipped.
At setbreak I predicted a devastating Set 2, and I stand vindicated.
Feel it Now felt like a direct challenge to the crowd (and possibly to themselves)… the difference in energy and body language was palpable for both the band and the crowd. Dr. Darkness was incredible. It’s not my favorite to listen to, but man oh man did it deliver in person. Hot Tea was the highlight of the show. An absolute burner with several different movements, each compelling and energized. I love 726, a nice extended Madhuvan is always welcome, and the brief encore before curfew sent everyone home happy.
Mission accomplished, Goose. Several of my friends were seeing their first show, and they are all on the team now.
Shout out to Goedde, who I sort turned my back to when he was entering his workspace before set two. I caught a glimpse of his walkie and thought he was security. The lights in set 2 when it got dark enough for all of his toys to be operational were incredible.
