Hey Jo - I completely understand where you’re coming from and was kind of waiting for the same thing. However, I thought they played with more intentionality last night - like they were expressing their anger through the music. And also thought the set list (especially the end of the 2nd) seemed to point to protest. He’s used his platform before - search IG for his post following the George Floyd tragedy where he shared a really frightening story. Anyway, be well and continue fighting the good fight. By the way, Dead and Co definitely made a statement last night at Wrigley. Chicago a bit more politically friendly than NC, though.

amazing show but considering the context ngl it made me a bit sad they didn't so much as mention the tragedy. I think it was incorporated into the dark color onstage and the setlist choice, but that's pretty indirect. took the opportunity to call out the cops on the lot but not even a brief moment of solidarity for all the women whose fundamental human right to bodily autonomy was stripped from them that very day. I'm not talking some huge gesture and I know people go to shows for a good time but damn... sometimes there's more than a good time going on and that's a big old platform. we're hurting. <3
