4/8/89 was my third ever Dead show. It wasn’t the best I’ve seen, but it was certainly the most important. This is the show where “I got it,” where I came out thinking “I want to spend the rest of my life doing this,” it was my “birth of a Deadhead show.” The me who walked out of Riverfront Arena that night was completely different from the me who had walked in. Enjoy!

Ahh! What a night. My friend got us a Friends& Family rate at the Cincinnatian Hotel. Walked into Bob riding a Mountain Bike in the lobby. Spent Friday night at the Blind Melon with Jerry and his woman in the corner. We saw the Pittsburgh shows earlier in the week and despite the first night “riots”, these shows were good, but Cincinnati was awesome. I took my friend who had never been to a Grateful Dead show and from the opening “Let The Good Times Roll” this show cooked on fire. The second set really gets you by the booboo. Damn I love this!
