Reviews for Grateful Dead: 9/20/1988 Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

In 1992 a radio station in Spokane was changing formats and as a gimmick, they faked their new format as playing only Louis Louie. After too many repeats of the same version, I delivered this Crispy first set Spundboard to the radio station and they fold in this eight minute version. The DJs loved it because the version was 3x longer than any other and gave them a long break.

I remember hearing Jerry talking about the release of WB Dead albums when CD started to take off. He hit it hard that there's a relationship between sound, transfer and the regret that musicians feel sometimes when they listen over a back catalogue. Like what they could have done. In reality most musicians have those aspirations but on the back of those aspirations are limitations. They lack the visiton, the skill, the chops. Let this MSG rip stand as a testament that the Dead were the exception baby!! Second Set is like an uplift of the 70s. Just perfect. Revised. Renewed. Real. What a long strange trip it's been x
