Goose production put in the work and did the venue switch to the Great Saltair- one of the most unique venues I have ever been to. Built by Mormons over 130 years ago, and renovated several times since, the place had weird storied energy that Goose and just a great Honker Wook crowd added to.
Goose showed the fuck up, on a one off Tuesday night, rewarded all those fans who put in the work and made the effort to come to Utah. First set was great, top to bottom, with the highlight being the set closer - Zalt. I really wanted this song going in, but I was hesitant to get my hopes up given they’d just played it last week, and it’s a bit on the nose pickwise (Salt Lake City and all). When they dropped into it, I lost my ever loving mind.
Second set started with my all time favorite Madhuvan, and they were off to the races. If I have one little low point to comment on, I think they went around a few too many times on Echo. Got a little bored and was waiting for a segue or them to take things in a different direction. But even so, like every other song, the jam was tight in Echo and they were locked the fuck in. Highlight, probably of the whole show was Thatch - A veritable monster of a set closer.
The Butter Rum dance party encore into the top slice of the Madhuvan sandwich capped the night. This is one of those shows where being in that room made difference. I wonder how it looked on the stream or on the relisten, or compare to other highly rated shows. Best Goose show I have ever been to, but it was only my fifth. It was an intimate rager, and Goose brought it, and it was my absolute pleasure to see them at the Great Saltair.
Thank you to the fans, Goose production, and above all to Goose for creating a truly magical night.
