Reviews for Dead and Company: 7/8/2023 The Gorge, George, WA

We made the trek to WA from Dallas, and what a gift it was to be at this one. The band had something special going on this tour and it was beginning to really light up as the end approached. As others have pointed out, it was hot. Like, really hot. Hottest show since I saw the Dead in Vegas back in ‘94. The view of the river and the sun slowly dipping into the horizon gave a backdrop that made this one feel spiritual. Because the Gorge is remote, there was a sense that everyone had made a pilgrimage to be there. And everyone had that look on their face like they knew we were lucky to catch it. The first set was low key, and I think the heat was a factor. For me, the Here Comes Sunshine was a standout highlight. But that second set, after the sun dipped and things cooled off, was so much fun. The entire set is awesome but they have done something really amazing every time they have played PITB and this one was no exception. So, so good. Mayer found it on this tour. And as much as I love the OG’s, Jay Lane and Oteil added a rhythm and temp that this group has never had. I’m forever grateful we were there to be a part of this.

Fire show. Best Althea I’ve ever heard. John Mayer is a weapon! Wish I could listen to the show past 7/31 on here but alas, the man wants his dollar. He won’t get it from me!

The only thing hotter than the fans in the crowd was the band on stage. PITB>Wheel>PITB>St Stephen during a beautiful Gorge sunset brought tears to my eyes. And a beautiful Stella Blue into a scorching OMSN closer. Are you kidding me??

What an amazing weekend in Washington with the tribe. The boys are on FIRE. It's hard to imagine them not playing these songs together after this summer. The chemistry on stage is at a pinnacle since Dead and Co was formed. You can see John singing these songs with such a deep, soulful connection to the music. Please keep it going, boys, because let's all remember.. the Music Never Stopped ?????

Something magical happened that night. 1st set was fantastic, the boys really channeled into the old Dead shows for this one!! But that Althea into Stella… talk about a tear jerker! Bobby really gave it his all for the best Stella I’ve heard them play yet. I think it’s safe to say that Jerry was there with us all that night, you had to be there to feel it!! The whole 2nd set was just on fire, John was really in tune for this one and you could see it on his face the whole show. Going to really miss these guys but forever grateful for the chance to see it all one more Saturday night!! Thanks for the memories boys!
