Needed to wait til re-listening, having been there and all, to put up this review, just to make sure.
Simply put, Umphreys is not quite a "jam" band, and it`s probably a disservice to them to call them that. The peeps who went to see the "jam" band at the Fillmore left in droves throughout the night, because I was watching them go, String Cheese & New Riders of Sage they are not!
Those who went to see an incredibly talented band melt their face with a rock and roll explosion stayed til the last note of rage.
Particularly Chris Myers the drummer. I could of sworn I missed a turn and ended up at a Martin Atkins industrial show this night.
Wow, best drummer I`ve ever seen or heard, argue with me from now til, oh gee, the end of time, and you won`t convince me otherwise.
But, anyways, new song "Gulf Stream" just incredible, really cool and possibly one of Umphreys most "feel good" songs. Jake sounding really really great on vocals throughout this one, and when Brendan kicks in it almost turns orgasmic (definitely had chills listening to this one, and the chills came back after the relisten). Bombtrack was a lot better in person, doesn`t quite come through on the disc (Burn burn burn).
Download this show for the new song and 2.5 hours of rage (against the machine).
