Been listening to GD since the week after Jerry died. Hardcore head since about 98. Traded tapes dl from web and own everything they’ve ever released live. I LOVE that I can still be listening to a random drop like this and just be in awe during the last 5 min of the playin jam and beginning of drums. These are the little “short story” type segments of a show that I love. Usually in the 80s and 90s I find the most interesting ones during playin. This one is magnificent. To me it’s a bit like the long jam out of Terrapin on 6/16/90 but shorter and more atmospheric. Love when the thunder breaks toward the end. Beautiful

Phil is all over this show. He’s just lively and creative and offering counter point all over the place. Also the show and Phil are well mixed; clear and punchy recording. The whole band really shines through. Really fun show that gets into some deep moments and exemplifies some great 1987 playing.

I was at this show . remember Bobby’s Farm Aid intro to Maggie’s like yesterday. Post space brings this show home .

The Mexicali Blues -> Big River has a lot of energy. Phils response to the Box of Rain requests is great. I wish they had explored the end of Crazy Fingers more

This show is actually a step up from the night before. I recall having the second set tape and discovering that 1987 did have some exploratory gems. This Playin’ rolls on for over 15 minutes and goes where few ‘87’s dare. Rather than coming off as a hangover show after the prior night’s barn burner, this one hits with greater professionalism, but no lack of x-factor. The band is present, engaged, tight, and determined to kick ass. And they do.

This drop feels like a dream Everything about it is a nightscape of ethereal spirit bending, mind altering beauty. There isn't a weak cut or a down drop. It's just a vibe. I can't tell you what 9/19/87 means to me, there isn't the words... But if you close your eyes and let your mind roll until Black Muddy River. Open them up and take in whatever sits just beyond your window, you'll see beyond the grey canvases and industrial squalor a kaleidoscope of colours so vibrant and fluid that they respond to the expectations of your mind...
