I'm thoroughly enjoying this new sound. Joel, Pony, and Andy are all more present in the mix. No longer overpowered. It's an amazing blend of the early UM sound with some maturity and BB bringing the fire and brimstone when needed. In doses instead of nonstop. I will have no problem if they stay as a 5 piece. Hopefully we get some new songs and an album too! Keep it up guys, you're killin it!

Bayliss is getting better and better as he goes on longer and longer as the sole guitarist. I feel like another threshold has been crossed in the last few shows. There is a new ferocity to his playing. I hope they add back a 2nd guitarist because that dual guitar dynamic is one of the things I love about the band. But clearly he has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he can shoulder the load as the only guitarist, if thats what they decide to do. Impressive.

heater after heater this year from the men at Umphrey's McGee ????. Sandwiches within sandwiches, palindromes, creative segues, bust-outs, debuts...this band is definitely NOT slowing down any time soon. Bayliss is right: they (still) have yet to ever give us their best.
