What a Show!!! Touch of Grey punches like a headlight in the fog. Mickey and Billy stir with delicate thunder man. Perfect opener to a show that pays credence to the concept that all the years combine. LRR and BEW get the '77 treatment and that solo has Dane County '78 vibes man. Real work. What I love about late 80s Dead is that fluidity. It's like with a band that evolved and lost skin, the Dead evolved and carried their ancestry into every show. They did it hard, did it fast and did it with chops man. Chops. Althea. Vocals. Kicking bass. Althea, baby. Jer solo. WIPMM - one of my favourite rips from '86-'87, thinking Oakland. This Ann Arbor outing is strong. Bobby owns it with that voice. The way he draws out "Coliseuuuuum" and the audience are on that vocal wave. Man, what a performance. Someday life will be sweet like a rhapsody, but until then we've got Play Dead to thank, for making sure the music never stops x
