I was going to U of L in 89. Years be day on campus , two chicks noticed the Dead pitches on my jacket. They asked me if heard about the Spring tour dates. I didn't, and they excitedly told me about Cincy. I popped, and then they revealed that the boys were playing Louisville. We all hugged, and they went on their way. Thus began a wild story that ended with me meeting my best friend from those days, being dosed and almost abandoned in Cincinnati, and wrapping up fourth row at Freedom Hall for "Louie, Louie."

I remember getting on the floor of Freedom hall with visions of 1974 in my head. Never saw my assigned seat and headed to second row during that wonderful must have been the roses. But as a 21 year old standing under Bobby all night, I thought the show was slow compared to the fireworks in Cinci the night before. As a 57 year old Re listening I realize the vocal performance of Jerry and Bobby belting out song after song is what you hope for each night. The band feels every note of every song. They are taking their time and listening to their sweet perfection. Louie Louis from the front row was confusing (sound ain’t great up there back then) took a while to realize what was happening for this final version. The 2nd set continues with perfect playing. Row Jimmy is beautiful and the show is simply perfect with estimated, UJB, Other One and Stella putting it all together for a wonderful show. 89 was such a special year to be a deadhead. (Fall JGB with Bob and Rob opening was heaven too after an amazing summer tour)

Wow, Louie Louie second set opener got the place rockin' It turned out to be a very good night in Kentucky. The three previous shows I attended. Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, PA 4/2 - Never give your love my friend unto a foolish heart. 4/3 - Some people tell you the walkin' blues ain't bad, worst old feelin' that I've ever had. Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, OH 4/8 - Wish I was a headlight on a north bound train. Made me think of the Summer tour. So I approached that with traveling on my mind. 7/4 Buffalo (Orchard Park, NY) Rich Stadium FUCKIN' OUTSTANDING. 7/9 - 7/10 Giants Stadium East Rutherford, NJ... could be some serious LIGHTNING. 7/12 - 7/13 RFK Stadium, Washington, DC. I got some Eyes, then again Oh Mama could this really be the END

I am glad these shows from the Spring 89 tour are getting released. The Mecca shows in Milwaukee were my first of many Dead shows and they were great.I really like this App.
