The 2/18 Dark Star > Wharf Rat > Dark Star “Beautiful Jam” — the one that brought Phil to tears when David Gans played it for him in 1997.

Dude what are you listening to? This is an incredible run.

It was clearly the end of the line for Mickey Hart, for obvious reasons.
The Port Chester shows were professionally taped in the hopes of recording the album that would eventually become SKULL & ROSES. Now that all of this run has been released, it's easy to hear why it remained in the vaults for so long. A terribly haphazard and demoralized performance; Hart was fired that night, and the rest of the run is Billy drumming solo for the first time.
Fascinating artifact, not very good shows.

The subscription price is worth it for this show alone

That subtle transition between Dark Star and Wharf Rat was so sweet.
