Reviews for Grateful Dead: 10/22/1971 Auditorium Theatre, Chicago, IL

Keith Godchaux's third show as the Dead's keyboardist, and a real find from the Dave's Picks series - until its release, this show did not circulate. It turns to be a true giant of Fall 1971, with the last full "That's It For The Other One" suite to ever be played during the song's original heyday. A wonderful surprise.

The Skull and Roses LP was soon to be in the record stores supporting the ‘71 Fall Tour with our show ushering in the Bakersfield Sound later to be known as Country Rock. The highlight of the night was a 28 minute jam of the …The Other One sharing the evening with the new shorter Country numbers.Keith was early in his tenure as the Dead’s 2nd keyboardist as the band entered the beginnings of the Post McKernan era.
