It is always a blessed set of ears that a Jerry Garcia Band “Mission in The Rain” falls on, a consensus shared by many here I’m sure. This blessing could not be felt more profoundly though than when the ever rare (a total of 5 times all played during the June ‘76 run), Grateful Dead version of “Mission” is thrown down with such exceptional grandeur as it is showcased in this perfect outing at Boston Music Hall. The fellow heads in my ‘circle’ go on about the Magical nature of certain geographical laylines personified in cities and venues the band would play….Boston as a city and the Music Hall as a venue are two pristine examples of this hypothesis.
