Rather than comment on the show,…it’s a scorcher and a top ten desert island show for me, how about that sound? I have the original CDs from the box set but the remastering makes that X factor even more evident. To my ears, many of the shows I’ve listened to have (slightly) louder audience noise than their original counterparts.

This is one of the first tapes that really turned me on. So many highlights. H>S>F is one for the ages. Cassidy, smooth as satin. Some folks like the Brown-Eyed Women from the night before better; I prefer this one, with its poignant tone during the last “Gone are the days” sequence. Exquisite Peggy-O. They tap the breaks a bit for this Bertha, but that mellowness makes it my favorite version. Ship Of Fools, lovely. The Cornell Estimated gets deserved praise, but I like this one a tad more (Keith seems more comfortable in it). Masterful segue into The Other One. I cannot add anything more to what already has been said about this Comes A Time. Sugar Magnolia is the perfect landing pad. There are no weak players this night, and kudos to Donna, who contributes beautifully all evening (see especially Cassidy, Bertha, Ship Of Fools, and Sugar Magnolia).
