This show is a great listen top to bottom. Don’t skip it.
Excellent segue from Shelter > Frog. I like this trend of taking the new cover (The Way)….out for extended jams. Minds Unchained has some delicate stylings from Cory on the piano, with another blissful peak from Brian.
Heck of a bustout on the second set opener…730 shows! I knew this had been played in 2012, exclusively, and thought that’s where it’d stay. You never know.
LTLO makes its first tour appearance. For the last few versions, this song has found new life. Speaks to the bands abilities to take one of their oldest and most played songs and keep it fun and interesting. Jordan and Cory push the envelope early and Brian and Nick hop on for the ride. The last few (2?) versions have sounded like they’re in a different key than usual, but someone more musically inclined than I could tell you the actual key changes.
I might be completely wrong, but the seeds of the Fuego tease, IMO, were planted by Cory during the Soundcheck Remedy a few nights prior.
Take a Picture – love they’re taking this deep lately. The jam after the final chorus is a DANCE party through and through, and, almost immediately, loses its resemblance to Take a Filter proper. This band’s ability to instantly – and seemingly with great ease – drop into type 2 jamming is stronger than ever, and IMO rivals other jambands ability to do the same.
The Weasel is a hot one. Complete with a joyous, extended transition into Palisades. A funky ATW closes the night – a distinctly different version, in the same slot, exactly one week prior.
