This was my first show. I was blown away by the Flecktones opener, then to have Bela guest was great. This is also Jeff Coffin’s first time playing with the band.
This whole show is great, I’ve listened to it so many times that I know just about every note. The banjo adds such a cool sound to the band. This was one of the first shows I got when I started trading tapes. I had it on cassette in the 90s before I got a digital version of the audience recording
The Jimi jam is great and the Graves with Béla is an all time classic. Seek Up and Two Step also feature Béla and are each among my favorite versions of the songs. If you’re a fan of Carter check out the end of Two Step, excellent interplay between him and Béla here. #41 is when Jeff comes out and they go into the Flecktones’ “Sojourn of Arjuna”
The Leave Me Praying is a cool insight into the progression of Don’t Drink the Water, Carter sounds great on it.
