I grew up half a mile from John's farm in Putnam Valley. It's the sleepy end of a rural country town in the middle of nowhere but it was a great place to grow up. Bob Dylan stayed at John's while making his Self Portrait album and the photos are of his farm. David Amram also lives down the street still and is 94 and just played Farm Aid. Pete Seeger (who's brother Mike was in New Lost City Ramblers) lived in PV for a spell (as well as famously in Beacon).
