Presented here are The Doors’ legendary concerts in Sweden on September 20, 1968. Both shows have been mixed and mastered from the original four-track tapes by Bruce Botnick, the band’s longtime engineer and mixer. This release contains both the early and late shows from The Doors’ appearance at the renowned concert hall in Stockholm, immortalizing the climactic conclusion of their only European tour. The concerts are among the tour’s best, featuring rare live performances of Doors’ originals “Love Street” and “You’re Lost Little Girl” and a cover of “Mack The Knife.” Drawing from the band’s first three albums – The Doors, Strange Days, and Waiting for the Sun – the quartet mesmerized audiences with versions of “Five To One,” “Love Me Two Times,” and the #1 smash “Light My Fire.” The group also played passages from its epic performance piece “Celebration Of The Lizard,” treating early show attendees to “A Little Game” and “The Hill Dwellers” and late show-goers to “Wake Up!” The Doors co-headlined this European tour with Jefferson Airplane, their “rivals” from San Francisco. The band’s archivist David Dutkowski writes, “This led to an unspoken yet intense competition between The Doors and the Airplane to see who could blow the other off the stage. The result would mark The Doors’ emergence as a global force in rock music and solidify their status as one of the era’s most influential bands.
