With the previous day spent travelling the 500+ km from Oslo to Stockholm in Sweden, the team settled into the first of two nights at a packed-out venue. With Larks’ Tongues Part 1 setting out the band’s stall, it’s interesting to note that the piece sounds and feels a bit tighter than usual, possibly due to a shortened flute solo in the middle section, although Mel was still able to get his customary rendition of the national anthem as he had been doing since the beginning of the tour. Jakko’s growling vocals on Pictures Of A City switch gears to a kind of wistful tenderness on A Scarcity Of Miracles, on what is another evening where both tracks from the Jakszyk, Fripp and Collins KC projeKct album receive an outing. The run of Dawn Song, Radical Action II (albeit with Fripp’s guitar briefly muted by a technical issue), Level Five, and the very last time The Light Of Day was heard live, in the second set, has a cumulative power that is hard to beat.
