It’s interesting that on any given day on tour, the band only finds out the evening’s setlist when it’s emailed to the team before soundcheck. That means folks in the band are expected to have a rehearsed repertoire of over three hours ready to go at their fingertips at short notice. Dawn Song/Radical Action II, Level Five and A Scarcity Of Miracles make for a stunning opening sequence. That’s then followed by an equally all-killer-no-filler run of Red, Circus, Fracture and Epitaph, before culminating with Interlude, Talking Drum and LTIA Pt2. But that’s only the first half of the concert. What’s especially interesting about the second half is the appearance of The Light Of Day. Once a regular on the 2014 setlist, it was played only once in 2015, on the 22nd September, meaning that on this night in Wroclaw, it was a day short of a year since it had last been performed. A strange, fragile piece that emerged from the Scarcity sessions in 2011, its ambiguity creates a very different space in the gig compared to its surrounding companions.
