“If I come across a bear I’m fucked, but I know what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow”
Following up on 5/03/2024 show at XL Live opening for Pigeons, this show is KSC’s first headlining show in Harrisburg, PA. Screamin’ Egrets opened. All aboard. Space is the Place opener per signage request from John’s kiddos. Second jam of the song gets quite spacy, and then you found out you are the wheel. Shanti intro gets confused the low rider intro for a second. Ryan kicks the jam into double time. Brian wants to talk about the price of gas. Jake calls back earlier 393 motif in jam. Louis starts ostinato jam. Lots of F Dorian modal rhythmic exploration for all the dorks out there. Jason Mescia from Yam Yam joins the band on alto sax for Dr. John’s “In the Right Place” with Brian on Vox. Cool guy, great player. He sticks around for Me & My Lady. Space is the Place call back over his ripping. Right into “Crosseyed and Painless” also with Brian on Vox. And a whole step higher than he is accustomed to singing it. DJ Williams licks all over Checkin’ Out. Allusions to Cheap Sunglasses. Drum solo first. Then the real thing. Porridge is for the kids. Brian buries the lead. Superb ramblings though. Mama Bear needs a rest. Ben teases Brian’s unreleased Latin-pirate riff in the solo. AQP per fan request. Slammer to close the night. Extra long ending ;). Catz encore, it had been awhile. Brian gives the three little boys in the crowd three hats so they can follow in Sauerkraut’s footsteps. Torch passed.
